This is a photo of the train rail Jews arrived on. In the middle of the tracks are what I believe to be the personal belongings of the Jews that had certainly be brought to the camp. All of those thing used to belong to people who probably didn't make five minutes past the time these things were dumped onto the ground like trash. Things people worked hard for tossed out like trash. Family heirlooms and important documents never to be seen again. This reminds me of the beginning of the novel where Ellie and his sister a getting water for all the people in the streets, and all the things they left behind. Pictures of their family, pots and pans, and so many other things that meant so much to them, left for whoever wanted them.

Behind the Make-Up

This is a picture of a holocaust survivor and her child, Florence and Chiam Witz. Whether you know it or not you know who Chiam Witz is. This is a picture of Gene Simmons as a young boy in Isreal. His mother Florence was in a concentration camp during World War II. She was able to survive becasue the general in charge of the camp wife took a liking to her. Florence had attend beauty school and would do the wife's make-up and hair. This reminds me of the boys the officers took a "liking" to and took special care of. So the next time you listen to Kiss, remember that sucsess is really in the make-up.

Pretty in Pink

Who doesn't love a nice pair of brand new pink shoes? In the concentration camps Jews where not allowed to have nice things, like these pink shoes. How would you feel if you were put outside in the cold to walk around in mud, stick, and fecal matter? Because they had no shoes the cuts on their feet were exposed to dieseas and infection. If your feet are infected they are going to hurt. If they showed any weakness or an inability to perform a task they were beaten or killed. So how would you feel if someone came and took you nice things away from you because of who you are?

Scholarships
Scholarship were due today at noon. Which in turn means that half of the senior class spent their weekends writing essays and getting letters of recommendation ready to be turned in. It also means that the first signs of senioritis are starting to show. I believe that having to fill out all these different scholarships is a main cause of having senioritis, the other being that colleges have already excepted you and people stopped caring because they've made the grade to get in. Since this is only the first set of scholarships, I sugest that people realize even thought this is the downward spiral of high shcool we still need to keep it in gear.

SNOW!!
It's official, there is to much snow in Pike County!! In the two weeks we have been back at school we've only gone five six days, one of which was a two hour delay. Not that I'm complaning about not having to come to school but I would like to graduate before college starts. It would be nice to drive from my house to graduation not my dorm room. So dear Mother Nature, please please no more snow!!
